Hi, I’m Liora (Alexandrovna) Grossman, and I’d like to tell you a bit about myself:
I illustrated over a hundred children’s books, in Israel and abroad.
I’ve won two very prestigious awards: the Hans Christian Andersen Citation for my illustrations in Avishag Rabiner’s “Tasty Tale”, and Ha-Pinkas prize for significant contribution to children’s literature in Israel.
I’ve curated several Israeli illustration exhibitions both in Israel and abroad, including:
Israillustrators – the first exhibition of Israeli illustration abroad, and I Am From Here – a retrospective of Israeli illustration since 1948; both were created in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and were exhibited at Beit Ariela in Tel Aviv, the Sapir Center in the Arava, and throughout the world.
In addition to my solo exhibitions, I curated several exhibitions showcasing the work of my illustration students.
I represented Israeli children’s literature and spoke at book fairs around the world.
In 2016, I established the official Israeli pavilion at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
I have taught illustration in several leading art and design schools in Isael. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I co-founded, “Meayarimim” with Efrat Levin-Yafe – an online school for professional illustration.
This year, I added the title “writer” to my resume, following the success of The Rules, the first book I both wrote and illustrated. And yet, you know, I’ll always be an illustrator first and foremost…
